Celebrating Over 140 Years Performing

Welcome to Hobart Orpheus Choir

The Hobart Orpheus Choir meets at the Salvation Army Citadel in Hobart CBD, Tasmania, every Monday from 7.30 to 9.30pm  to sing together and enjoy making music. The choir’s repertoire comprises a wide range of works for mixed male and female voices, from sacred and classical composers, as well as operas and operettas, jazz and easy listening music, as well as traditional and contemporary songs.

Established in 1877, the choir is one of Australia’s oldest. Leading the current group of approx. 50 voices is Susan Reppion Brooke, the musical director and conductor. Her mission and ours is to present the Tasmanian community with outstanding thrice-yearly performances of a broad range of choral music and to provide opportunities for aspiring young musicians as soloists.

The Hobart Orpheus Choir is proudly a member of Australian National Choral Association (A.N.C.A.)

The Hobart Orpheus Choir also makes benefit appearances and is available for hire. See our 'What's on' page for details of coming performances.

Become a member. The Hobart Orpheus Choir welcomes new members of any age with a passion for singing. Membership is open to anyone with a basic ability to read music and hold a part. Singing in a choir can be a rewarding experience, and we promote a relaxed, sociable atmosphere, great for meeting new people.
